Christopher Ellis Live in London, August 2015

As the Jazz Café celebrates 25 years since it's opening, Christopher Ellis will return to the Jazz Café stage to present a night which celebrates 25 years of Reggae. On the night, we are set to witness performances of some of our favourite reggae classics, alongside the continually growing Christopher Ellis catalogue of tracks.

Being a part of the Ghetto Youths International family, and having worked with artists all over the World and across many genres, we can only begin to imagine whom Christopher will invite to the stage on the night, but one thing that is for certain is another night to remember from the youngest son of Alton Ellis.

I have been advised that all tables are already sold out, but you can still purchase standing tickets to secure your place in the intimate Jazz Café venue on Saturday 29th August 2015. For tickets, visit Ticketmaster or see the Jazz Cafe website for additional information.

This is without a doubt the best way to start off the Bank Holiday weekend, so come and dance rocksteady with us on Saturday 29th August 2015 as we celebrate the genre that we love so much, and half a century at one of our favourite music venues in London.

Chronixx at Somerset House, London UK

Chronixx with support from Dre Island

Sunday, 12 July 2015
Summer Series at Somerset House with American Express®

Having seen Chronixx perform each time that he has come to the UK, I can confidently say that he is one of my favourite performers on the Reggae scene at present. Whilst he is recognised for his talent as an artist and a performer, he brings passion, energy, and creativity to any stage, which often make his shows an enjoyable experience.

Alongside the Zincfence band and Dre Island, you can expect a showcase of real Reggae and Dancehall music, and a performance which is sure to be one of the most memorable nights of the Summer Series at Somerset House in conjunction with American Express.

So if your heart is clean like a whistle, come and put your lighters in the air on Sunday 12th July as we celebrate the beauty of Reggae music and find out a little bit more of where the man behind the music comes from.

Tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster at £29.50 plus booking fees. A limited number of Summer Series GA Enhances tickets are also available for an additional £20. More information can be found on the Somerset House website.

Randy Valentine - Still Pushing EP Launch

Location: Jazz Cafe, Camden
Date: Monday 25th May 2015 from 7pm

It's hard to believe that it has already been a year since the release of Randy Valentine's debut EP Break The Chain. Since then, Randy may have topped iTunes charts across Europe, and performed in countries ranging from Switzerland to Australia, but he is back home in London this weekend to release the Still Pushing EP at London's Jazz Cafe.

Providing us with music from the heart, and continuously sharing his journey, Randy Valentine invites us to enjoy the Bank Holiday Monday with him as he delivers yet another show to remember. I have been advised that this is going to be a set like no other, so do expect to see a real artist at work as he is accompanied on stage by the one and only Soul Rebel Band, and a few very special guests.

If you were at any of Randy's previous launches, you will know that Randy Valentine and his team are not ones for compromising on quality, and will agree that missing this show is simply not an option. If not, I insist that you join us and find out just what keeps us coming back to see Randy perform live on yet another May Bank Holiday.

Purchase tickets from Shoobs, and visit Randy Valentine.com to keep up with updates from the man himself.

Javada - Say Di Weerd

Javada is the artist that brought us the Rude & Smooth mixtape some months back, and has continued to voice many riddims, adapting to a number of different styles. This may be my anthem on H20's Fix Up riddim, so I especially enjoyed this short but sweet performance from Javada.

Toddla T Meets Protoje - England Be Wise Mixtape

Having attended a Toddla T takeover event last Summer, it was evident that the BBC Radio 1 DJ is not one to be programmed. Never afraid to cross genres, this collaboration with one of Jamaica's hottest artists of the moment, sees Protoje lay down vocals on a number of classic riddims from various genres, including the widely acclaimed riddim of Skepta’s That’s Not Me.

Whilst this mixtape may not be of the norm, there is something in here for everyone. I especially loved Who Dem A Program on Krept and Konan’s Don’t Waste My Time, but do let me know what your favourite parts of the mixtape are, and don't forget that you can catch Protoje live in the UK next month promoting his forthcoming album Ancient Future which is due for release on 10th March 2015.

Reggae Valentine's Showcase in London

Location: Hammersmith Apollo
Date: Sunday 15th February 2015

Tickets: £34+ excluding delivery fee (Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.)

I have never been one to make a spectacle of Valentine’s Day, as I do not believe in waiting for one day out of the entire year to show someone how much I love and value them. However, if it means that more people will celebrate love, and carry out acts of kindness, it can hardly be a day to resent.

As we are all well aware, the celebration of Valentine’s Day often leads to an array of events, with a few star appearances being the norm around the city of London. Whilst I rarely make the most of such occurrences, I have had a change of mind this year, and have come to the conclusion that I just don’t want to be lonely.

Thankfully, I have been advised that the Big Ship will be sailing all the way to London on Sunday 15th February 2015, as the stepping razor tells us a little bit about the melody to his song, before sharing a Cheater’s Prayer with all of those lucky enough to be in attendance. As the headlining acts stand firm individually, this special night is set to provide a selection of some of the finest Reggae artists on the scene, and is simply way too beautiful to resist.

For those that did not manage to pick up on the clues above, the Reggae Valentine’s Showcase will be featuring the likes of Freddie McGregor, Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo, and Terry Linen, plus more supporting acts. Whether you will be spending the weekend alone, with friends and family, or with that special person, this show is bound to make it a Valentines weekend to remember.

For more information, check out the Reggae Valentine's Showcase website.
